WSD Employee Staff Development/Training

WSD recognizes that training and study for our employees contribute to their skill development necessary to better serve the needs of the district. Additional training and study are prerequisites for continued growth and effectiveness of staff members.

Mandatory and Optional Training are offered:

All WSD Employees will participate in the following training:

·Civil Rights Training: training includes information about civil rights requirements, including nondiscrimination protections under Washington law (i.e., types of discrimination and protected classes), employee responsibilities to report and respond to discrimination, and WSD discrimination complaint procedures. Staff will sign attendance sheets as a record of their participation.

·Blood Born Pathogen & Epi Pen Training: training will be led by our school district nurse and meets rules requiring appropriate education and training of public school employees about the transmission, prevention, and treatment of HIV/AIDS. Epi Pen Training includes where EpiPen® Auto-Injectors are located, as well as how and when to use them. Staff will sign attendance sheets as a record of their participation.

  • training includes information of the school district Policies, Procedures, and Handbooks and where they can be located. It also includes who to contact if the employee has questions regarding information covered. Staff will sign attestation sheet that confirms that they received this information.
  • One or more of the following topics: Social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices,

·One or more of the following topics: Cultural competency, diversity, equity, or inclusion.

·Safe School Training: as assigned per job position and responsibilities.

·Suicide Prevention: to help identify and respond to students at risk of suicide.
