The Internet at home program is ending soon!

3rd May 2023

We are getting near the end of the E-Rate funding support so we would like to work with you and let you know about the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) benefit. Since Wellpinit School District participates in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), your students' households are automatically eligible to receive the ACP benefit. Here is the flyer and a letter that can be used to start working on the transition from E-Rate to ACP. Once the student's household is qualified, you have up to 3 months to select an eligible service provider, so now is a perfect time to start applying. If you want to use the Sp̓q̓n̓iʔ Broadband Services (Spokane Tribal Service), they will just need the copy of your approval and the birth date for who was approved. You can bring this to their office in the Admin building, or email it to Leslie Hardwick at leslieh@spokanetribe.com

Also, the ACP benefit is for any participating service provider so if there are students that go through Century Link, ATT, Verizon, HughesNet or Viasat for internet service you could use this benefit. It also can be used off-reservation and you would get a $30 discount as opposed to the $75 that qualified tribal land residents get. One thing to note is that qualifying cell providers can use it as well, but the benefit can only be used for one service provider per household at a time, so you would need to choose which one to apply the discount to. For example, you could have cell service through ATT or Verizon and also be a customer of Sp̓q̓n̓iʔ Broadband Services, but would only be able to provide the discount to either them or ATT or Verizon and would be financially responsible for the other account or any variation difference. Leslie Hardwick can assist people with any questions they may have, even if they cannot get the tribes service at their residence and use another internet service provider.
